Catching Qat updates (and other stuff)

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted an update. A lot has happened since my last post. The most crazy of which, I started a publishing company! Skuulfire Press will publish my books and (hopefully) other authors as well. I’m busy building the website and learning about the business.

I also hired an editor! There’s been a lot to learn, and for my Catching Qat beta readers, I hope you enjoy the final product. I’ve just submitted my fourth (or is it my fifth?) draft. I’m hoping it will be the last one. After that, there’ll be the final check, then typesetting and finalizing the cover before it gets sent to the printer. Advance Reader Copies will be sent out after, and I’ll be having a drawing for a book giveaway.

I’m hoping it will be ready to release this summer. And check out the new series title, Drakkaen Nakkla, and its sea monster medallion — created using Bard AI!

The second book in the series, Legacies, is about one third of the way written. It’s already full of action and suspense.

A golden coin medallion, intricately designed with the image of a majestic fantasy sea monster dragon, appearing to be crafted from gold leaf. The sea dragon is presented against a vibrant emerald green background.

In between drafts, I’ve been writing. For National Novel Writing Month, I took up the challenge of writing a fifty thousand word book in the month of November. Instead of free-styling and dice-rolling my way through my fantasy world, I switched to general fiction and an outline of each chapter. At the end of the month, I completed seventy-seven thousand words and have only the conclusion to finish.

I’m also dreaming up a children’s fantasy series featuring an orphan street gang who find legitimacy by eavesdropping and bribing crooked politicians and unethical businessmen. The leader of the street gang is Catching Qat‘s own Qrow, and the series features some of his childhood escapades with his best friend, Talim.

That’s it for now. Until tomorrow…or tomorrow.
