I did my first author video interview, and it was posted last night on Gabriel Garcia’s The Wandering Scribe YouTube channel. Check it out below!
This was a huge challenge for me, as it is for most new authors. Of course, Mom said I did great. Thanks, Mom!
It includes answers to how I became a writer, my Pantser journey using Dungeons & Dragons to roll my way through the story, and my biggest challenge in writing Catching Qat (spoiler: all the emotional stuff).
There’s also a section where I talk about writing senses, and I give an example from Book 2 of the Drakkaen Nakkla saga: Legacies. I’d like to share that quote with you here because I forgot the exact wording.
“Give your pain a body. Imagine that it has hands and feet.”
I swear, sometimes she can read my mind.
How about claws and a tail? I ask her.
Something in her face shifts. Sadness, I think. Confirmed by the saltwater tang of unshed tears.
They say the ocean is made from saltwater. I imagine it must be the saddest place on Oram. The gods must have been crying when they made it.
And for nostalgia’s sake, here’s an image of my original D&D crew with a fantasy twist!

I hope you enjoy the interview.
And if you’re in Riverside County, come see me at the French Valley Library on Friday, January 23rd at 12 noon!
Just in case you’re wondering, the featured image is my dice chest! Each character gets a color when I roll for initiative.
Until tomorrow… or tomorrow!
Just a reminder, Catching Qat will be free on January 16 & 17 on Amazon.
